Model 500 Telephone Test Systems Overview

The Model 500 Telephone Test System represents the evolution of ideas that came from the mind of the company president and founder Mr. Eric Auzins. His thought was simply this: "Create a telephone test system that provides reliable, standards compliant test methods integrated into a complete package that will test all aspects of the telephone necessary for factory production. The system must test faster than any GPIB controlled instrument solutions without compromising accuracy." The Model 500 Test System accomplishes all of these goals.

Built in a modular fashion the Model 500 System provides a basic architecture that consists of two primary components. The Controller and the Measurement Unit.

The Controller Unit is available in two forms. The Model 500 Controller is a robust industrial computer running a Microtronix Operating system. It has been built specifically for factory use and can tolerate extreme conditions of temperature and AC power variation.

The Model 501 Controller is built on a Pentium Class PC Platform that includes a Microtronix Real Time Controller board Although it is faster and easier to use than the M500 Controller it remains 100% compatible with all Microtronix Test Program software.

The Measurement Unit provides two precision voltmeters with tracking filters, an acoustic fixture interface and a signal generator for telephone signals. DTMF, Sine waves call progress tones and caller ID signals are generated here.

Simply by adding to these two building blocks, the Controller Unit and the Measurement Unit, a complete test system can be built. For example, to create a Telephone Handset Test System simply add a Handset Unit and an Acoustic Fixture. Connect the unit with the Model 500 Digital buss and Analog Buss cables.

Likewise to create a telephone test system, connect the C.O. Simulator Unit to the buss. The C.O. is programmable and uses multiple plug-in modules to provide feed capacitors, impedances, programmable transmission lines and fixed ringer resistance for specific national test requirements. Microtronix has Country Kit packages that provide modules and test software to configure the Telephone Test System for over 15 different countries including the USA 470B specification and the TBR-21/38 standard for Europe. Each Modules unit can contain enough modules for two to three different countries and the system can have up to seven modules units!
