FMR-1 Equalized Acoustic SystemMicrotronix announces the FMR-1, a product that provides an easy to use audio interface to the Microtronix Acoustic Head or the Acoustic Transducer Kit. The FMR -1 combines the microphone pre-amplifiers and the audio power amplifier for the Artificial Mouth in one easy to use package but the real marvel is the DSP equalizer. Using a 32-bit DSP engine the FMR-1 flattens the Artificial Mouth acoustic output to plus or minus 0.5 dB from 100 Hz to 10 kHz. This means that complex test signals can be applied to the telephone under test and they will appear as accurate acoustic signals at the mouth reference point (MRP).

After the initial master calibration is performed the FMR-1 can self-test for acoustic drift and auto-calibrate with press of button or by remote control. If a quick confirmation is all that is required the FMR-1 can do a quick check at 1kHz.

The FMR-1 provides the wireless telephone test engineer with an ideal Artificial Head complete with microphone pre-amps, an Artificial Mouth power amp and DSP equalizer in one package. A standards compliant and reliable solution to the problem of connecting electronic measurement devices to any telephone handset.

Acoustic HeadAcoustic Head:
The Microtronix Acoustic Head is designed for factory testing. The base is heavy with damped urethane rubber feet to provide low frequency acoustic isolation from factory vibration. The ergonomic design of the clamping mechanism provides smooth operation and minimizes operator fatigue.

The Microtronix Artificial Ear is fully compliant with the IEC 318 Type 1 specification and the Artificial mouth is designed to comply with the ITU-T P.76. This means that measurements made with the FMR-1 system can be directly correlated with other compliant equipment. Custom rubber seals are available on request to accommodate unusual handset designs. To ensure repeatable handset position, critical to accurate acoustic measurement, Microtronix can create a molded locating ring formed to your handset design.

Acoustic Transducer:
The Acoustic Transducer Kit allows test engineers who purchase the FMR-1 to design test fixturing by using the the excellent features of the Microtronix Artificial Ear and Artificial Mouth. The devices are sold with engineering drawings of how to mount the transducers so that correct orientation is maintained per ITU-T recommendations. A pre-amplifier is provided with the kit to interface to the Artificial Ear and Artificial Mouth microphones.

The Microtronix Artificial Ear is fully compliant with the IEC 318 Type 1 specification. In the kit the ear is mounted in the Microtronix spring mounted assembly. This ensures correct pressure to the acoustic ear rubber seal at all times. Custom rubber seals are available on request to accommodate unusual handset designs.

The Artificial mouth is designed to comply with the ITU-T P.76. This means that measurements made with the FMR-1 system can be directly correlated with other compliant equipment. The artificial mouth comes with the "Loudness Rating Guard Ring Position" (LRGRP) adapter but can also be mounted in the AEN or REF positions by simply removing the adapter.
